The Development Trend of Nano Barium Sulfate Masterbatch

    Nano barium sulfate transparent masterbatch is environmental and economical. It takes LLDPE as the carrier resin and adds nano particles whose surfaces have been processed by special techniques. The effective ingredient of the nano particles is a kind of environmental material with good compatibility with the carrier resin of masterbatch and excellent processability.

    It is suitable for producing all kinds of plastic bags, films and so on. Nano barium sulfate masterbatch gets a rapid development. This masterbatch is added in HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE and other film blowing process:

    1 The addition within 20% does not affect the transparency of film.

    2 Can improve the production efficiency of film.

    3 Can reduce the production cost of film.

    4 Improves the mechanical strength of film.

    5 Improves the decoration and makes film beautiful.

    6 Improves the forming process with stable film bubble and no die head educt.

    7 Makes film easier to print.

    The main processing technologies of nano barium sulfate masterbatch:

    Internal mixer + single screw;

    High speed mixing machine + parallel two- screw air cooling and hot cutting;

    High speed mixing machine + parallel two- screw water ring;

    High speed mixing machine + twin screw + single screw air cooling;

    High speed mixing machine + twin screw + single screw air cooling spray;

    Internal mixer + twin screw + single screw air cooling.

   The key point is to strengthen the dispersion of nano barium sulfate in the matrix and to make better granulation and forming. More and more manufacturers use high speed mixing machine to mix and get sand particles, and then use two-stage machine to spray and cut, achieving high yield and perfect granulation.

   The development trend of nano barium sulfate masterbatch is that downstream customers demand more and more transparent masterbatch. This requires the particle size of nano barium sulfate powder getting smaller and smaller. The average particle diameter was 0.5um in 2008 and gradually decreased to 0.4um in 2010, 0.3um in 2014, and below 0.25um in 2015. At the same time, in order to avoid particle agglomeration of nano barium sulfate powder, various manufacturers try their best to develope unique surface treatment technology. Composite surface treatment technology is a trend.
